Who receives the Orchestras Australia Awards?

Orchestral musicians, conductors, orchestral administrators, volunteers, supporters, sponsors.... the many people working in, with or for orchestras. These orchestras may be large or small, situated in major capital centres, metropolitan areas, outer suburbs or regional areas. All these are be eligible for consideration. Professional, community and youth orchestras receive awards. The primary criterion is the contribution an individual, orchestra or organisation has made to the orchestral culture of Australia.

What are the Orchestras Australia Awards given for?

There are eight Orchestras Australia Awards presented in four different categories.

Individual Awards

Regional Award: to an individual who has fostered excellence, innovation and/or creativity in an Orchestra in a Regional Area
Metropolitan Award: to an individual who has fostered excellence, innovation and/or creativity in an Orchestra in a Metropolitan Area

Orchestral Awards

Professional Orchestral Award: to a Professional Orchestra which has extended the public's perception of Orchestras;
Community Orchestral Award
: to a Community Orchestra which has extended the public's perception of Orchestras;
Youth Orchestral Award: to a Youth Orchestra which has extended the public's perception of Orchestras;
School Orchestral Award: to a School Orchestra which has achieved recognition within its school and/or wider community.

Enlightened Support

To an individual, a company or organisation who or which has provided enlightened and/or exceptional support to an Orchestra or to Orchestras.

Lifetime Achievement

To an individual for prolonged achievement in, and/or contribution to, the Orchestral sphere.
